Our Board of Trustees

Our trustees are valuable volunteers who use their experience and skills to develop and manage the organisation. Trustees are elected by members at our Annual General Meetings.

Chair - Nikky Myers - from
A trustee since 2015, Nikky has been involved in different aspects of our work, steering the search for new accommodation for the Brighton & Hove office, with the end result of our moving into especially refurbished space in Hove Town Hall.  Nikky has a corporate background, but is currently taking sabbatical leave from paid work, allowing her to focus on Money Advice Plus.  She is excited to work with the team, ensuring that we remain strong, flexible, and able to provide quality services to our clients and funders.
Treasurer - Jonathan Hyman - from
Jonathan is a qualified chartered accountant with wide experience in both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. Until September 2016 he had spent the previous 25 years working for a large housing association group in varied financial roles, most recently that of Group Treasury Director. Jonathan was born in Hove and has lived there all his life. One of his favourite interests is cricket and has been a long time supporter of Sussex CCC and has followed England on overseas tours.
Trustee - Gemma Dunn - from
Gemma's career is in financial services and tech PR and communications has been largely focused on creating and delivering campaigns which help people and businesses manage their money better.  Gemma is passionate about demystifying financial services and ensuring accessibility for all.
Trustee - Bryan Coverdale - from
Bryan was born in Hove and has lived in Brighton & Hove for most of his life with spells abroad during his career. He is a retired  Risk professional who held senior executive roles in the UK, Australia and Singapore at American Express, Standard Chartered Bank and Lloyds Bank.  He is an avid sports fan who is a Brighton & Hove Albion supporter for more than 55 years and also watches Sussex CCC at every opportunity. 
Trustee - Nick Gray - from
Nick has 15 years experience working for the government, where he leads a department delivering large scale construction projects across Sussex and Hampshire. Nick is also a passionate environmentalist and is a chartered member of CIWEM.
Trustee - Tracie Church - from
Tracie is an experienced Senior Manager with a solid commercial and business background gained in over three decades in the Financial Services Industry. She has a Business Degree and speaks fluent French. Until recently she was the Chair of Trustees for a Domestic Abuse Service in West Sussex, serving over 12 years with the charity.

Richard Stewart, Trustee - -
Richard is an IT professional with over 20 years experience working with a wide range organisations. He co-founded a company to provide consultancy and support to clients in the legal, financial services and media industries. Richard recently completed a master’s degree in human rights law with a focus on socio-economic rights.

Asif Chaudhery, Trustee - -
Asif has 10 years experience of working within the legal field.   He began his career as a barristers' clerk and is now a civil litigation/dispute resolution solicitor.  Whilst studying he volunteered to provide free legal advice to people who were unable to afford it.

Phil Hall, Trustee - -
Phil is a communications and policy professional with almost 20 years’ experience in developing and implementing highly successful public affairs, media relations and communications strategies in the public, not-for-profit and private sectors. Phil has previously served as a local councillor, school governor and as a Board member at UCLH Biomedical Research Centre and is currently a Steering Group Member at Leonard Cheshire Disability. Passionate about the importance of financial education, Phil helped establish the financial capability qualifications offered by the Institute of Bankers that are now taken by over 40,000 teenagers a year. He went on to undertake policy and communications roles at the Money Advice Service, People’s Pension and Finance & Leasing Association. More recently, Phil sat on the HMRC forum that devised and implemented “Help to Save”. He is currently head of public affairs & policy at the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

Terry Mase, Trustee - -
Terry is semi retired having worked for a FTSE100 company for 34 years. He currently freelances on the technical side of television programme making.

Stewart Beamont, Vice Chair - -
Stewart has been a trustee from January 2017 and was elected Vice Chair in January 2020.  Stewart is an experienced and highly successful development professional and runs Steward Beamont Associates which specialises in professional development initiatives.  Previously, he was Director of Learning in a large professional services firm and prior to that Head of Development for a local authority.

Olivia Hobson, Trustee - -
Olivia currently works in Reinsurance for a S&P 500 company and is a qualified member of Chartered Insurance Institute. Experience extends to business development, project management and software development, both within financial services and other industries. She has also been involved with education and personal development initiatives.

Robert Phillips, Treasurer - -
Robert has been involved with refugees and asylum seekers since 1980, helping to set up a refugee led advice organisation and also as Finance and Development Director for the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants and as a member of the Senior Management Team of Immigration Advisory Service IAS. Robert has a Post Graduate degree in Financial Inclusion in Low Income Communities and also delivers front line advice work with Citizens Advice.

Andrew Berry, Trustee - -
Andrew currently works as Senior Environmental Health Office with Mid Sussex District Council as lead on private sector housing enforcement where landlords are not maintaining their properties.  He was previously Private Sector Housing Manager with Eastbourne Borough Council and lead bid writer for the council.

Djan Omer, Trustee -
Djan currently works for an International Software company but has experience of Senior Management in public funded charities and has an extensive knowledge of Quality Casework derived from his time as a Quality Auditor for both Charities and funders alike

Helen is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants
